State-Wide Initiatives

“No” on Initiative 1125: Eyman Sponsored Transportation Initiative
This measure would prohibit motor vehicle fund revenue and vehicle toll revenue from being used for non-transportation purposes. It would prohibit gas taxes or vehicle tolls to be used to fund non-highway uses such as light rail. It would require the legislature to set tolls, and would provide that a toll on a particular road or bridge, including the Interstate 90 floating bridge, could be used only for construction, operation, or maintenance of that particular road or bridge.  Read more at

””
No” on Initiative 1183: Privatizing Liquor Sales

The Progressive "Ballot Initiative Network: recommends a no vote on I-1193: Less than a year ago, voters rejected not one but two initiatives to allow massive grocery chains and big box stores to sell hard liquor. Hoping voters will forget they said no to their risky schemes, big corporations are at it again. As with last year's measures, I-1183 would lead to irresponsible expansion of hard liquor retailers. With five times as many retailers and a 50% increase in consumption, problem drinking will also rise. Add that to one out of every four minors success at buying alcohol from private retailers, means we'll also see a rise in senseless drunk driving accidents. I-1183 is still too high a price for a little more convenience. For more information visit http://protectourcommunities.com/
