2006 accomplishments of Eastern Washington Voters:

On only a $6,500 budget, we accomplished a great deal.  Most of our work was very grassroots, such as contacting voters about the candidates and initiatives that we support through doorbelling or leafleting.

Also, we acted as a vital resource for state-wide campaigns.  When Yes on I-937 and the No on I-933 campaigns needed help on the east-side, we were one of the first groups that they called.

The result was that we won 3 out of 4 campaigns.  We helped pass I-937 for renewable energy, elect Bonnie Mager to the Spokane County Commission, and defeat the anti-environmental I-933.

Specifically, the efforts of our 59 hard working volunteers and staff included . . .

·    helping film a TV commercial (the crop art ad) to defeat the anti-environmental I-933,

·    distributing “by hand” over 17,000 pieces of literature about progressive candidates and issues,

·    collecting and helping to collect over 10,000 signatures to get I-937 on the ballot for renewable energy,

·    having over a dozen letters to the editor published, and

·    organizing dozens of road side protests against Cathy McMorris for her votes against veterans benefits.

The result was that we won 3 out of 4 campaigns.  We helped pass I-937 for renewable energy, elect Bonnie Mager to the Spokane County Commission, and defeat the anti-environmental I-933.
